I'm struggling to get IWD2 to run, I'm getting the following box appear:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

The game is installed at D:\GOG\Icewind Dale 2\IWD2.exe.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro.

I downloaded the game direct from my GOG library to the downloads folder and got that box pop up and it wouldn't install - I checked permissions and they were all ok, tried running as administrator, and tried compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, still no luck and still getting the same box. So I downloaded the GOG Galaxy installer and re-downloaded and installed IWD2 from there to the path mentioned above. I can run the configuration program, but when I try launching IWD2 I still get that same error box (I again also tried various compatibility modes).

Any ideas please? As never had this problem before.

Cheers

Check if Windows is blocking the file 'IWD2.exe'. Right click on the file and select 'Properties'. You may have an entry telling you that the file is blocked or from another computer. Unblock it. Also check that your antivirus is not blocking it.
Cheers, it was Kaspersky blocking it, changed the setting to allow and all ok now, cheers for the help.
Excellent. Have fun.
