I seem to be stuck on a point buy system? Which I don't remember being a part of the original game. All my abilities at character gen are set to 10 with 20 point buy, and the reroll button is grayed out. What happened and how do I fix it lol

IWD1 has the re-roll option, since it's based on the AD&D 2nd edition system. Whereas IWD2 is point-buy, and it's based on D&D 3rd edition. You're probably playing IWD2 and there's no option to re-roll, by design it's a point-buy stats distribution.

I can assure you I am playing Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition, not IWD2. IWD2 isn't available on steam. I can see the reroll button, but its all grayed out. All my stats start at 10 and I have 20 points to put in, with increasing usage as we get higher in modifiers just like a point buy system. I've never seen this in IWD1, and am quite familiar with it and IWD2. I'll try and upload an image when I get home from work because this is boggling my brain at the moment.

What version of Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is that? In v2.5.17.0 (the last version that works on 32-bit Windows), the reroll button is enabled, my points start out initially spent (but can be deducted from one stat and added to another), and I see a linear increase for points spent. Are you using any community mods?

And no mods, I just downloaded it this morning since I had an itch to run through it again. Then I got to my first characters ability scores and started scratching my head.


Side note: I just got home from work and decided to install it on my desktop for shits and giggles, and the reroll button is available and the stats are rolled like you'd expect from IWD or either BG. I'm not sure why but this morning when I installed it on my laptop it forces this goofy point buy system, which is dumb because you cant come even close to the pregen character stats. I've looked in the config file for some parameter I can maybe switch on/off to allow this or something but I'm not seeing anything. Big confused.
