It's a bit of a stupid question, I know. It's just better to be safe rather than sorry before buying two copies.

Basically me and another person want to play Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition together, but they want to buy theirs off of Steam and I would like to purchase mine from GoG. I just want to make sure there won't be any abnormal problems with the two playing together. In addition, there should be no issues with a Linux user playing with a Windows user in this game, right? We would preferably be playing through LAN if the option exists.

Cross platform multiplayer works but all parties MUST have the same update version installed or it won't.
