I have a modern widescreen HD monitor (1920x1080) and the game naturally fills the entire screen.. but that cannot be the original aspect ratio, can it? I would think if it was, there would be black bars on the side. For me that is the optimal way to play, I don't like the "stretched" look and the widescreen look is crap for a point-and-click game, it feels very unnatural.

I will not play it in windowed mode, either. (So call me stubborn then.) There has to be a way to do this. I've tried experimenting a bit and haven't figured it out. Anyone have some ideas?
Though, by the date of the game, the ratio is for the CRT monitors (4:3), I can't remember if you can control the resolution of the game. Though, I need to say that I had to use the windows mode due many items are not possible to be seen in the full screen with the HD monitors.
Thanks for your reply, Belsirk. I'd still prefer not to use the windowed mode if possible, though.

Anyone else?
I don't know if this will help you, but GOG usually packs a handy Graphic Mode Setup executable with most (if not all) of their DOSBox games, and I Have No Mouth is no exception. You can access this tool via the Start Menu (assuming you're using a Windows OS) -- Start -> All Programs -> GOG.com -> I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream -> Graphic Mode Setup. Once you open that DOSBox configurator, go to the Advanced Settings tab and you have some options there you can mess around with, namely checking/unchecking Keep aspect ratio and choosing which resolution you would like to use (original and, then, ranging from 320x200 up to 1920x1200). Be sure to click Save Settings before you start the game.

Hope this helped!

Thank you groze. Yes I've already tried that, experimented with all the settings. I can only get fullscreen with original aspect ratio in windowed mode. I guess I'm just an elitist gamer and need everything to be perfect, I refuse to play in windowed mode!

Download and launch the game with ScummVM. Make sure in the game settings you select maintain original aspect ratio. If you're using an onboard graphics card this might not be an option. In that case select OpenGL and the rendering method and it will run in the correct 4:3 ratio.
