So totally rejoicing at the release of Homeworld: Emergence. Kiith Somtaaw once again gets to show us what they're made of!

Really am curious about just what exactly was done to make this work... last I heard the source code was lost, which meant that releasing new patches and fixes the ideal way kinda wouldn't be happening. Which means... hacking the executable in assembly code using all kinds of chicanery would be about the only way to modify it. Which is possible, but the tedium and difficulty ramps up massively.

What did they DO? What magic has been wrought? The geek in me wants to know!
I'm not sure that much work was needed, if I'm not mistaken the CD version of Cataclysm was (mostly) working out of the box?

They simply took a CD copy of the game, installed the patch, then applied a No-CD edit (like most of the old games) and released with a 3dfx OpenGL wrapper (which doesn't work half the time and sucks :P)
