Hi all,

I finished Hitman Absolution a long time ago on Steam and got the GOG version of the game. Then, I transferred the Steam save using this: https://www.gog.com/forum/hitman_series/how_to_use_your_hitman_absolution_save_from_steam_with_the_gog_version

It all works fine and the levels are unlocked, but I cannot for the life of me remember or make sense of why when I use Select Level > Hunter and Hunted mission that I start with the chef outfit and the bottle in hand instead of the default outfit. Does anybody know?
Interesting, especially since you could only choose starting weapons and disguises in the Contracts mode and that was torn out of the GOG release.

So, maybe it's an issue with the save file you have? You might have gone back into the mission where the chef disguise was and saved it and since you're porting over saved content into the GOG build it's acting as if you're starting from that point? Purely a guess as this is something I've never run into personally.

That seems to be the only thing that makes sense. I know I played around with Contracts back when it was there and I am certain it has something to do with the Save. I tried Hitman Absolution (Steam) and I get the same behaviour. I'm wondering if there is a chance of tweaking the load out when using Select Level.

If somebody would be willing to compare native GOG and native Steam saves (non imported in either direction) and disect differences then maybe it would be possible to write translation tool.
Since based on your descriptions it sounds like saves are not 100% compatible between versions (it would make sense. Tho IOI should still just blank / offset unused sectors in GOG ones since that would not lead to this problem in the first place if the GOG game version would be coded to ignore those unused sectors).
