Hi I've been trying to get multiplayer working with hamachi etc to no avail. Any ideas on how to get this working? I'd love to be able to play with friends.

A few more details would be helpful.

Are you getting any particular errors?

Did you manage to get other games on Hamachi working?

Could any firewalls be blocking your connection?

Nope not getting any errors at all just flat out not being able to connect to my friend when he host or him connecting too me when I do. Yes terraria works as an example. No not that I know in any way I've made exeptions in the firewall. Have you got it working and if yes how?

Are you both using the same version of the game?

Yes we've doublechecked.
I supposed you already googled for this. Did you see this youtube video:

If not, did you consider using Gameranger instead:
http://www.gameranger.com/

Supposedly it has 2000+ HoMM 3 players

Other than that, sorry I'm out of ideas. I haven't played HoMM 3 over the internet myself.

Yupp and tried it. We even tried gameranger but couldn't get it to work. We could host a lobby and start so that HoMM 3 starts but the other person never got into the lobby. Thank for trying. If I ever find and answer I'll make sure to post it.

I have one suggestion you could try. I've played via email, in an ad-hoc sort of way. We created the game via multiplayer, then each player saves at the end of his turn and emails the save to the next player. The honor system is involved; don't reload if you screw up (unless you have permission, of course), and don't scout the other player's stuff.

We use some remote connection software (I don't recall the name, off-hand) when we actually have a player-vs-player battle.

Just make sure each player loads the game as a multiplayer game, or the computer will take turns for the other people.
