Can anyone say for sure that the homm games from GOG are compatible with windows 10?

I looked to see but cannot see a definitive statement on this.

What little I do see is just saying that 10 will get upgrades that may affect it.

Yes, all of them work on Win10. Heroes 1 and 2 come bundled with pre-arranged DOSbox distributions.

If you are trying to be helpful, you failed miserably

Or maybe you are just young, which I do not use pejoratively but being old I have seen this type of situation many many times and by far the most likely result is that it does not work consistently so the people selling it put a disclaimer on their product

In this case that is the part that says windows 10 updates may cause it to not work, which I did notice and did include in my post


I really like these games and would really like to know if they work reliably on windows 10

So it's just your ignorance of what all those markings mean, then.

They DO all work on Windows 10, but they added that "updates may break it" notice in 2015 for a bunch of games just to distance themselves from Microsoft's potential changes that never came.

disclaimer = distance themselves

and the fact that the disclaimer is still there 3 years after you say it was added and NOT NEEDED BECAUSE Microsoft NEVER MADE THE CHANGES does still make me wonder a bit.

However, (and despite your rudeness) thanks for at least giving me a reason for why the disclaimer was there; Microsoft not doing something it had planned is somewhat normal.

The problem is with map editor for Heroes 1 because it was released only for Windows 95, and doesn't work on modern systems. Unless you have wing32.dll and download GL wrapper (made by Russian community). But it's complicated way.

Hello,

i don't know if somebody reads this but i'll try it. i have a problem with HOMM 4, when i want to start the game there is only a black screen. i hear the sound, i can click in the dark and hear the menue plopping but thats all. i have win10 and a 21:9 3440x1440 resolution screen, nvidia gtx 1060. about 1 year ago, the game worked, with the same monitor but an older computer with win7 and a low graphic card. i know it's an old game but i loved it many years ago, it would be ironic if my computer is now "too good" for this game to work. maybe someone here had the same issue and could solve it, i would be happy. thank you !

oh this was fast, didnt expected that. the first thing crashed, but following your link i tried this:

" have solved my problem :
Right Click on yourgame.exe > Properties > Compatibility > Execute with a resolution of 640x480
and it works :)"

and it worked.
