Hey sorry all, this is probably a completely idiotic question, but i just got HOMM 5 on GOG and it comes with 2 games. which one am i supposed to play? does one of them have all content? is one better? is there a way to "load" one game into the other? Tribes of the East seems like an expansion but i've never had an expansion be it's own separate download and executable. i've been on GOG for many years and played hours upon hours of HOMM3 but i'm confused by having 2 separate game downloads.

2nd question is, are there any "necessary" mods (like the HD mod for HOMM3)

Tribes of the East is a standalone expansion. There are a few expansions that don't require the original game to be played

If you play the campaigns, it's better if you go in order: original then Hammers of Fate, then Tribes of the East.

ok good to know. I don't really play campaigns, i usually prefer RMG, so in that case i can just stick with Tribes of the East?

And i've been doing some reading online and apparently homm5 is pretty balls for RMG? So i should get the 5.5 mod? I see they just came out with a new beta this week... not sure if i should jump on that or go back to the last one.

Ah, sorry can't help you there then. I'm just a campaign person.

It's probably best if you stick with ToE then since it'd have all the factions. But maybe someone else can give better advice. Never used the 5.5 mod.

I have the same question: If I don't play Campaigns, can I only go with Tribes of the East ?
If not, which additions does Hammers of Fate offer then?
