When I double click on where I want my heroes to move or press the "Move Hero" button after selecting, it just moves only one space closer rather than doing the full planned out movement. This happened out of nowhere after not playing the game for a week (and no settings were changed in that time) and I tried reinstalling the game, but still nothing changed and I continue moving in this highly annoying way. I messed around with a bunch of other in-game settings to make sure it wasn't anything there, but you can guess where this is going.

I'm just interested if anyone else has had this problem and if anyone has a solution, I appreciated any help you guys can offer me, and thank you in advance.

Yes, others reported the same issue. I believe the problem was caused by Alt-Tabbing out of the game, which caused the Tab key to be "permanently" pressed.

If I remember correctly, pressing Tab should solve it. Let me find the thread.

That seems to be more of a HoMM2 issue since I tried that out and nothing changed. I even checked in multiplayer to see if it made using hotkeys more annoying, but it didn't and I still have the problem.
I did a bit of testing on my HoMM3 installation.

The issue you describe happens to me whenever I had a keyboard key pressed. I've tested it with many different keys, and it would happen with most of them. With some keys, like left Alt, the hero would move normally. With some, like left Ctrl, the hero would not move at all, but for most of them, the hero would only move one space at a time. So it could be a problem of the game detecting a key press when it shouldn't.

Any chance this being a hardware problem? Maybe you could unplug your keyboard and see if the problem persists?

Thanks a billion. It seems that the function key on my laptop's keyboard was stuck and that was causing the problem. I didn't notice it before since only a third of the buttons work on there and I've been using a separate keyboard.

Glad it worked.
