I installed GOG version of original Heroes of Might & Magic (1995), started campaign for Lord Ironfist (canon), completed it today by complete destroying all enemy factions and conquering Dragon City (I even dig the ultimate cloak of protection +12).

But there is no ending, where is it? What's wrong with my version?

On YouTube I clearly saw an ending sequence with fanfare music and all 4 lords entering the castle where local king named a victorious hero.
EDIT: here is a video

P.S. Played on Windows 7, installed it through GOG Galaxy client

EDIIT: Solved, too bad I can't choose my own reply as a solution ;)

The ending plays for me. You completed the campaign in 438 days.
No idea why is doesn't play for you, though.
Does your score appear on the High Score list?

Yes, it does

I just realized that game don't play intro either, so the issue lies in cutscenes playback. I have no idea what's wrong, on Windows XP intro played just fine.

Is it a common issue?

EDIT: Compatibility mode doesn't help. Very odd video codec problem. Cutscenes plays ok in HoMM 2/3/Chronicles though

So I thought it'd be a stupid idea but I tried installing HOMM the good old way from downloaded setup file

And what a miracle, intro and outro cutscenes played just fine

So the problem lies within Galaxy files bundle, it seems that GOG din't updated them for some reason

>> Simple folder copy/replace from GOG to Galaxy version fixes the problem, I guess it's the DATA folder, ISO looks the same, there are also about dozen tiny files

Well I guess it should be reported to Galaxy thread forum and be ignored by authorities.

After all who would in his/her right mind play such an old game for the sake of completing campaing and notice that there is no proper ending I wonder ;(

HoMM has been updated - Galaxy & language versions should now play movies properly.
