Grim Dawn has run smoothly with no problems for me since install.

I installed Ashes of Malmouth yesterday and now nothing - a black screen

You didn't update if you were able to run the game or not.

Anyway, my solution so I can easily start the game without any black screen is to remove 2 files from the game folder.

After that game will run properly, at least it does on my side.

Just move them on e.g. desktop, as you wish:

Direct3D11.dll and Direct3D11.pdb

Try adding "/d3d9" to the command line oprions.
