GoA crashes very frequently for me. The crashes seem quite random, but they come up only after the battles have developed a little, never in the first moves. Because of the crashes, I seldom get to fight battles to the end. This is really annoying, because I enjoy the actual game tremendously.

Maybe someone in the community would know a solution for this annoying problem?

I'm running the game under Windows XP.

After some testing, I seem to have solved this problem.

I unchecked the Finish Leader Dialog Box from the Preferences menu in the game and also set alex.exe to run on Windows 95 compatibility mode. alex.exe was the executable causing the crashes. It didn't have compatibility mode on as a default setting, unlike start.bat and the GoG desktop launcher for this game.

Unchecking the Finish Leader Dialog Box was a tip I found from this site:

I didn't move any files to system32 as suggested in the instructions, however.

So, after these two changes, there have been no crashes and I've been able to play my battles to the end. Hopefully this advice will be of assistance to someone else having these same kind of crashes.
