Okay, I know I have this question every time I start playing Gothic 2...

When you pray at the Shrine of Innos, donating 100 gold gives you a permanent bonus, but you can only do this once per day and the best bonuses eventually dry up and you can only get health bonuses later.

Apparently when you donate before you associate yourself with a group you get different bonuses than you do afterwards.

Now onto the question:

Can you get both the full bonus from donating PRIOR to joining a group AND AFTER joining a group?

I'm a little shocked at how little I could find on this. In the most in-depth thread I could find (not even on GOG, could barely find any mention of it on GOG) the answers directly contradicted each other so I have no idea what the truth is.

Not sure if you have NotR, but I only play NotR and AFAIR, you can pray:
As guildless: for 10x STR, 10x DEX, 20x MP, infinite HP.
As MIL/PAL: for 10x STR, 10x DEX, 20x MP, infinite HP.
As SLD/DJG: for 10x STR, 10x DEX, infinite HP.
As NOV/KDF: for 20x MP, infinite HP.

You cannot get, for example, 20x MP as guildless and then 20x MP as a mage. Though, you can get, for example, 10x STR and 20x MP as guildless and then 10x DEX as a paladin.

Recommended:

If you want to be a mage/MP-based character, pray for 10x STR and 10x DEX as guildless. Then pray for 20x MP as a mage (after you'll be happy with your learnt MP and only want to raise it with bonuses). After that, you will only be able to pray for HP, but infinitely.

If you want to be an archer/DEX-based character, pray for 10x STR and 20x MP as guildless. Then pray for 10x DEX after joining a guild (after you'll be happy with your learnt DEX and only want to raise it with bonuses). After that, you will only be able to pray for HP, but infinitely.

If you want to be a warrior/STR-based character, pray for 10x DEX and 20x MP as guildless. Then pray for 10x STR after joining a guild (after you'll be happy with your learnt STR and only want to raise it with bonuses). After that, you will only be able to pray for HP, but infinitely.

Are you talking about the shrine manned by a water mage just before the monastery or the little ones scattered about? The reason I ask is that I was under the impression that praying to Innos at the big shrine did nothing.

Specifically the Shrines to Innos (Not managed by any Water Mages so far as I know, though I forget which god is the one associated more with neutrality and water; Innos is the god of good and fire). Feel free to use this thread the next time you play :D

EDIT: Oh! I just realized I posted in the general Gothic forum! This is ONLY for Gothic 2! In Gothic 2 the shrine before the Monastery is managed by a Fire mage, and is indeed a Shrine of Innos.

EDIT2: Isn't this weird design? Joining a faction seems to only close off your ability to gain certain stats. Symbolic?

It's Innos for Fire Mages, Adanos for Water Mages and Beliar for the Dark Mages. You can only pray to Innos in G2 and Innos and Beliar in G2A. You cannot pray to Adanos, unless you have some mods.

For Innos, you sacrifice gold and get attribute boosts.
For Beliar, you sacrifice max HP/MP and get gold.

The big statue/shrine near to Vatras (Water Mage) is not usable. The shrine next to Isgaroth is a normal shrine of Innos, prayable.

You can only pray to the yellow Innos shrines and black Beliar shrines.

Double thanks. I don't know how many times I played this game and thought that one could not pray to Innos at the large manned shrine on the path to the monastery. I never saw the lead in lines but then, all I did was talk to the fire mage there. Yeah, I meant fire mage, at least that is what was in my head.
