Are there ANY characters that you, as the player, can conceivably kill, that are integral to the continuation of the story?

Is there anyone you can kill who you will regret killing later because you can't beat the game?

I ask because Orcs are clearly hostile and I just wiped out their village...

I'm pretty sure I've done this before but I really don't remember if it affected anything...

No. You can't kill anyone without regretting it later. Simply put, there are some characters that break game story by killing them.
There's no point in trying anyway, since some of them are immortal. You get to kill all you like towards the end of the game.

About orcs being hostile: if you wonder why in a previous gameplay they were friendly to character, is because you need to complete Ulu Mulu quest prior visiting Orc Town.
Killing them is of no consequence, however.

I remembered that some orcs became friendly from the quest, but I was just curious if I needed any alive (like the shamans?).

So, just clarifying before I move on from this question, killing the shamans is ok too?

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I found a different path to easily get past the gate that separate the area just past the bridge from the rest of the place.

The only orc you ever need to worry about is Ur-Shak, and, if I remember correctly, don't think you can kill him anyway.
Did you mean to say "You can't kill everyone without regretting it later.'"? The statement you actually put implies ANYONE I kill will cause regret.

Good to know about the orcs, thanks.

I meant you can kill an npc, but it will break your game if that is a key npc related to the main story. I don't remember all the details at the moment, but I'm pretty sure every major npc is immortal in the game, until after the moment it's no longer important (though there may be exceptions).

For example, you can't kill Thorus or Gomez untill the chapter 6 (or 5?).

If you can kill him you don't need him. At some point you will come face to face with certain NPCs and that's the games way of saying "It's alright to kill him now." Some minor characters are give and take like Mud and the bandits outside the Old Camp though I think killing them INSIDE the camp may bring some heat down on you; outside the camp is fine.
Thanks, guys. Time to go on a killing spree. :)
