Hi,

Played this game many times but this is a new one (and one I don't remember reading about i the forums). The nameless hero will arm his bow, sword, or spell but cannot use it. I tried going back to saves, reloading the game, and even stated a new game but he cannot swing a sword, etc. Any ideas?

In the first Gothic the action key/button has to be combined with a direction, so that might be the source of the problem. Try loading the default/alternate key assignments to see if that fixes it.

Oops, my bad (and I know better!) - it's Gothic II.

Maybe you have Gothic 1 controls enabled? If yes, then disable it in the options.

I do and I'll try that and see what happens but I'm in Chapter III and it just happened. I'll let you know.

EDIT: Well, how about that - it worked. Don't know why it worked with Gothic I controls activated for three chapters but now I can continue. Me be happy! :)
