Im reinstalling my games and i come to gothic 2 is night of the raven worth it? i heard it make the game a lot harder or is it still playeble?
It is well worth it. It makes Gothic 2 much better. Yes, it is a bit harder, but that should be a welcome change for any Gothic veteran.

Well to be honest i had problems at the start of gothic but i notice the game is more forgiving if you are careful with traveling around.

Well that's the point. In Gothic you should be careful about what you attack, you shouldn't just try to kill everything you see.

Yes, NotR makes G2 a lot more difficult, but it also adds a lot more content (the world is about 35 percent larger and the story is expanded). Definitely worth playing.
I have never played a gothic game in my life before they just went on sale a few weeks ago. I started gothic II with NOTR installed and have gotten through just fine. I really don't think its accurate to call this game hard at all. Its pretty much just unforgiving trial and error. Enemies that will kill you in one hit will be a breeze later. The game really isn't that free roam because there is usually some (currently) unkillable monster standing where ever your not supposed to go yet.

I thought the game was hard and was ready to give up until i figured it out. Instead of making areas unaccessible to you they simply put something to hard to kill there and you have to figure out where your supposed to be going based off what quests you get. As long as you never leave the main path until your ready this game is actually a cake walk because once you level up enough enemies will melt away. Just do the quests you get in order and you will rarely have a problem. I've almost beaten the game and have finnished the area that the expansion adds and I have to say this is one of the most fun RPG's I have ever played and the expansion area is totally worth it.
I, too, installed NOTR during my first (and only) playthrough. It's not too hard by any stretch.

Side note, I want to offer a dissenting opinion vs. the phrase "unforgiving trial and error," which is often used to describe Gothic 2 :)

You don't have to be killed by an enemy to find out it's too tough for you. Hit it with an arrow, and if it doesn't do much damage, just run away. This is one of the only games I've played where running away is a consistently viable option, which makes the game very forgiving, imho :)

Gothic II + NOTR was my first Gothic experience as well, and having played about 2/3 of the way through (guessing, it could just be 1/2) and done the entire new area, I can't imagine playing the game without it.

Having a tough foe is amusing, and even more awesome when you figure out how to get past it before you are "meant to".

Amen brother. Little is more satisfying than fighting your way through the main entrance to The Valley of Mines in chapter 4. Elm Bow (I think) + ungodly amount of arrow = lots and lots of dead orcs. Booyah.
