And always I stopped playing after short time, for some reason I didn't like it. But there aren't many games with this kind of world exploration, so I was thinking about giving this game another chance. Do you recommend maybe that I start with Risen or Gothic 3 as easier parts of this series?

I know exactly what you mean. However, I found Gothic 3 to be easier than Risen (the only difficulty in these games really comes about from combat and one early fight in Risen was so difficult that I was unable to get any further in the game), but it's significantly less stable than Risen.

Are you trying the NOTR version? That was designed for experienced players. The GOG version has the option to install the original which is a good bit easier, maybe that would be more enjoyable.
Not long ago I was trying original version.
