So here's a problem I'm having with G2 on Windows 7 x64. I don't think it's a new one, just hasn't come up much lately.

Every time I run G2, there's a several-minute period of nothing happening -- gothic2.exe just sits there taking up ~3MB memory and minimal CPU -- before finally the G2 splash screen appears.
It happens with and without the so-called "report version".
Adding an exception in MS Security Essentials for gothic2.exe appeared to help, but not really. (I just happened to add it right when gothic2.exe finished whatever it was doing before starting.)
In Task Manager I don't notice any other processes related to G2.
XP-SP3 compatibility mode did nothing.

Do you have rundll.exe in the processes? If so, try starting Gothic twice and then killing rundll.exe. That sometimes helps.

This seems to do it. Just several seconds to start up now. Thanks.
