I bought this game some time ago (5 years+), and wanted to play it, but it will not load. I've tried from the steam page and from the startup icon. I can't even get to a loading screen. It just tries for a second, then stops.

What is wrong? I'm not a "techie" with files and such, so I have no idea what I can do.

However, for me the problem was this:

So a simple solution to game in the original version Gothic 2, is to replace SendMessage with PostMessage, which does not wait for a response.
With any hex-editor (HxD) replace 50E4 on 48E3 at offset 4C5E0 in Gothic2.exe.

I have a similar problem. Maybe the same. When I click on "play" the button greys out but the game doesn't start up. Opened the exe in an editor, but IDK how to change that? I don't know stuff like this and I just can't seem to change the text there.
Rebooted and now could change it, but now I got this error: "maximum texture size lower then 32, possible reasons wrongs gfx driver setup, bad os state or insufficient gfx hardware."
