Hey all, I've been playing Gothic 2 Gold on-and-off for a year or so now, and I finally decided to give the original Gothic a whirl. However, it runs really poorly. Gothic 2 runs with all the bells and whistles at 1920x1080 (without AA because it causes weird FPS hiccups), so I had expected Gothic to do the same. However, when I load into the game it just feels laggy (~15-20 FPS). There are moments when it runs really smooth (60+) but there doesn't seem to be a correlation with the images on the screen. At max draw distance I had high frame rates looking out over the valley at the very start of the game, but low frame rates in the canyon with almost nothing around me.

I am using an Intel Core i5-750 processor with 4GB ram and an Nvidia GTX-260. Anyone have any ideas what is going on with my game?
Maybe a problem with multicore CPUs? Could anyone verify my guess (because I dont have the game myself)?

If my guess is true then you could use the start command from the command line or by writing a batch file to start the game. If anyone can verify my guess or in case you want to try it, I could write a little longer description how to use it.
Try running it in a window.
go to the gothic mods and tweaks sticky and download the gothic system pack (you need the playerkit to install it but its easy), this will enhance graphics and remove the fps-lock. it will run butter smooth after this.

Did you installed the Player-Kit (required for mods)? Otherwise, the framerate is capped at 25 FPS.
