Hi there.
Exploring the map I checked out the lighthouse near the fire lizards in the northeast of the map. It was full of skeletons and I explored it until I found a creature that kept summoning them, but I had to leave becouse the enemies were too strong for me, I think I got killed and loaded.
Now, when I come back to the lighthouse, just as I go down the first set of stairs the game slows down to the point you could think it freezed, It may take like 15 seconds to open the menu, for example. I kill the process and try again and it keeps happening.

Any theories? Is it a known issue? I hope that thing didn't get the dungeon so full of skeletons that the game can't handle it or something weird like that.
Also, can I finish the game without visiting that location? Just in case we can't fix the problem.

Thanks.
I'd go back to a previous save, if you have one. I remember reading somewhere that there's an issue with that particular monster - it summons so many skeletons it crashes the game.

Well, that's a shame. I always use the same save slot. Not used to saving in different slots. Well, I hope I'm not missing on a lot of treasure.

This particular quest doesn't have anything crucial and isn't needed to finish the game.

Saving in multiple slots is the recommended approach, especially for more complex games like RPGs.

Sorry to hear it. That's a mistake, especially with an old game like Gothic 1. I recommend keeping a rolling backlog of at least five saves in case something goes wrong.
