in the light of the removal of the Gothic 2&3 from GOG, I'd like to inquire if there are any significant advantages to the GamersGate versions, which I already have (Complete).

I don't think there is any difference, just a distributor preference, I guess.
GOG's Gothic II includes a fullscreen border fix for Windows 8 and later; for other versions use the Gothic and Gothic II Windows 8 fixes to get the same result.

Gothic 3's patched state varies between distributors; Gothic 3 Patch 1.75.14 updates all versions to the latest version.

Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods' final patch is Patch 2.01; as with Gothic 3 this updates any version to the latest version.

For G1 and G2, it is necessary to install only this:

and everything will work on any operating system..
