So I installed G3 and will start playing it for the first time, but the stuttering is annoying even with the Community Patch installed.

Any real way around it, or should I just live with it?
It surely got way better with latest community patches, but you'll have to live on with those, I'm afraid.

Though, some ATI users reported an increase rate of stuttering compared to nVidia, at at least I was reading this on WoG forums some time ago. If this is the case, I couldn't say what to do, as I never used ATI cards.

What is meant by "stuttering"? Is it the momentary freeze and snap release sometimes resuting in a 180 degree turn (or more)?

Yes.
OK, I un-installed everything and did a new installation of G3 with the newest patch version (I had installed 1.74, now I installed 1.75 I think, it's around 1.5 gb in size) and the game runs great. No stuttering, great graphics, it's so, so unbelievably beautiful.

I'm glad for you. I've had to learn to live with it. I have the 1.75 patch and a Nvidea card and it still happens - a lot!
