I'm currently at lv27 with 252 strength. I planned to pursue the skill regeneration. However, it seem that every point of strength above 250 cost 2 learning points. Also, by looking at the CP mannual, I discovered that regeneration alone cost 30 LPs, which means the earliest time I could get the skill would be when I'm lv40. I don't know how useful regeneration would be, so does it really worth it?

It's not really worth it unless you have nothing else you really feel like spending LP on. By the time you get it you'll probably already be a walking death machine, plus in fights enemies will either do enough damage to kill you quickly (regen or no regen), or you'll survive the battle and just be able to heal up with the massive amount of healing items you'll have stockpiled by that point. Plus, if memory serves, in order to be able to learn regeneration you either need to buddy up with the orcs or pursue the Innos path at the end of the game- if you don't do one of these things then there won't even be anyone willing to teach you regeneration.
By the time this skill is opened up to you as an option, you should have so much food and potions in stock that your healing needs are covered for the rest of the game. I concur that you don't really need it.

With the one game I played, I concur (I had regeneration) however, one thing to bear in mind is that you can sell all those potions, etc that you stockpiled for a huge profit although one may not need so much cash so late in the game.
I prefer to put the effort into mana regeneration. Gives plenty of healing, some nice area spells and other goodies.

Also once you reach 250 str there's a lot of free strength bonuses lying around the game.☺
