So I download Gothic and install it. I start it up and it runs exactly as it should. Fullscreen with no stupid boarders. Given that the vanilla game is capped at 25fps, I decide to mod that bit of stupidity out of the game. I consult this thread and install Gothic Player Kit and Unlock Framerate (Gothic) as it recommends. However, now when I load up the game, fullscreen no longer does what it's supposed to, as you can see in the attached screenshot. I can't find anyone else with this problem either in that thread or the Gothic subforum as a whole, so I try a bit of Googling and I find this fix that should get rid of the window boarder. It does absolutely fuck all.

So I decide to uninstall everything and start over. I uninstall every mod, then the game itself. However, now when I reinstall it, the window boarder is back. Completely fresh install, no mods whatsoever and fullscreen suddenly won't behave itself.

For what it's worth, I'm running Windows 8.1 with AMD graphics and processor. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Well grand. I spend an entire day pissing about with these stupid window boarders, I give up and make a thread asking for help, and not even ten minutes later, I discover that Gothic ½ - SystemPack is a thing, which of course seems to fix pretty much everything.

Now, if only I could tweak my games without making myself look like a drooling idiot in the process, I would be so happy.
