I bought Gothic this weekend (Along with Fallout 2, thus completing my fallout collection.)
I played it for a few minutes last night. I thought it would be a First person game for some reason... Is Gothic II first person? or is there a way to change the view point?
I am counting on what i've read here to come to light in this game: It is intersting I just bought Oblivion GOTY edition, but I can't get it to work on the laptop I'm using. So I'll be playing alot more Gothic ;)
I had to go through and reconfigure all the controls to make it a bit more palatable to my control tastes. I've enjoyed games with worse controls, so tha doesn't bother me.
Anyway I'm on the Gothic bandwagon so hopefully it won't dissapoint. I'll let you know as I play it more.

Gothic 2 is third person as well. I don't remember being able to change the view in either of them.
Funny , I can run Oblivion on this laptop with integrated graphics. Is yours an older one?
Gothic 1 is uber after you reconfigure the controls. Gothic 2 plus the expansion is even more uber. Gothic 3 never happened.

The only adjustment you can make that I know of is using the wheel on your mouse you can zoom in or out, but you probably already knew that. I don't think there's a way to change it otherwise.

Mine isn't a new one no..it was bought in 2006. I can play oblivion with the oldblivion mod, but not with the expansion pack.

Well I'm able to work through the Gothic controls; they are still a bit slippery but I've got them to a workable state...JUST as I read Gothic 2 will be made available on GOG.com ;) I guess I'll have to beat this one first , eh? I do wish the view was First person...seems to fit the game world better..or maybe I just need ot hook up a controller. Ah well there is a pretty deep game and I still wish I could find a mod to help the controls a bit more...
