I finished ArcaniA without technical problem. I installed just after that ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif (it's the direct and logical ending of the main game so if you want to complete ArcaniA, you HAVE to play it), but :

1. Game wasn't launching at all but without error messages (little blue circle for a few seconds then nothing). I tried everything (DX, physX, compatibility, even sound sample quality! etc.).
SOLUTION : I checked the configuration/Startup.xml file : the line : <UserDataFolder name="ArcaniA - AddOn"/> was targetting the wrong folder of "My Documents" where the save and setting files of the game are stored. I changed this line with the right folder's name AND (was this step necessary?) copied my settings from the original ArcaniA and the game launched.

2. When you launch the extension (it's standalone so you don't need ArcaniA installed), you start New game and you have the option to have a completely new character or you can import your character from ArcaniA, ONLY if you have defeated the final boss. A "EndsaveXX.sav" files (XX is a number, for instance 00 if you killed the boss only once) is created automatically. WARNING the manual says it's created AFTER the outro, so you'd better wait just in case and watch it entirely. I had this file, I tried everything but could NEVER import my character, the option stayed greyed out. You can start with a new character and choose between warrior, hunter and mage. As you play with the same guy model as the original and you get the same skill points, you won't be underpowered but you lose every item you had in your inventory. Nice... The VAST majority of your time in ArcaniA being searching every corners for plants, ores and chests...
SOLUTION : none

3. I could save the game and reload it in the same session (quicksave + normal save) so it could have been worse, but when I restarted the game, there was nothing to load (greyed out). Once again I tried everything but nope. "Solution": I played the game in a whole session, quick-saving it normally, but whithout alt-tabbing (too risky because in ArcaniA, the screen would freeze sometimes when I did that), which took me around 6 hours.
SOLUTION : make your gaming sessions great again, saving is for weaklings anyway.

4. The clean uninstallation from Windows Parameters didn't work, I then tried directly from the uninstall executable in the game's folder but again an error message. Actually, your folder name has a "Setariff" when it should be "Setarrif" so you can rename your folder according to the error message and you can then have a clean uninstall from Windows Parameters.
SOLUTION : rename your game's folder according to the folder of the error message.

By the way, GOG should fix some of these issues, there are obviously folder and names errors easily accessible and not hard coded and I think they make their own install/uninstall files so they must be responsible for some issues, not the original developers.
