I just finished Gothic 1, it was my first time and that was amazing, but my ending was with the hero staying alive in the end, saying something like his adventure had only just begun, while normally the hero is supposed to die in the end with the destruction of the barrier etc. My question is, what shall I do in order to get the "normal ending" instead of this one? For info I played as a Shadow and then as a Guard for the Old Camp, then as a Mercenary and a Water Mage when they expelled me from the Old Camp, and finally became a Necromancer thanks to Xardas. (in case it can alter the ending)

I would also like to know whether it is possible to get the ore baron's armor or Gomez's armor (they just look nice).

Finally I have seen videos of characters representing German band In Extremo playing their music on the stage in the Old Camp, but on my game the stage was empty, so is it only available with a patch or something or is it just a goodie for a certain version of Gothic and not for others?

Thanks a lot for your replies.

actually the ending where the hero is uried under rocks in the sleeper temple was invented for Gothic 2. you got the right and sole endling.

concerning in extremo,it's a licence issue like always. i don't know if any foraign release ever had them at least no new release(like gog) has.

Thanks for your quick reply and informative answers. I thought that maybe In Extremo would appear on the German retail version of Gothic 1 only, but apparently not. Regarding the ending, does it mean the ending showing the death of the nameless hero is shown as an introductory cinematic in Gothic 2 or something like that ? Never played the 2nd but considering buying it very soon.

well, i have one old gothic cd where in extremo is included. i'm not entirely sure but as the modding community of gothic is pretty strong it might be possible to get the necessary scripts but no one would provide the song. you know copy right bullshit.

yeah, kind of. it is never stated that the hero dies at the end of gothic 1. he's just buried alive and rescued in the intro of gothic 2.

Thanks for the infos Kuchenschlachter, I'll try to get Gothic 2 as soon as possible. Hope it is better than the 1st one.
depends, i prefer gothic 2 it playes more smooth but many other fans prefer the first as its story/atmosphere is unique/better.
While Gothic 1 is a great game, Gothic 2 improves on it in almost every way (especially with the NOTR expansion). Definitely a game you should get if you liked Gothic 1.

I'm not sure why people say that as it is an extension of the same story and fairly seamless. Now, II to III, that's another story (figuratively). The idea that the nameless one and their party just went ashore sans equipment into an obvious war zone and is "a little rusty" is silly. The ship should have sunk in a storm and the gang thus scattered, weakened, and the nameless one dressed casually. But, I guess they were in a hurry.

Funny, I thought something the same. I won't give spoilers, but my idea played out similar to yours.

@OP

IIRC, you can't get Baron armor in the game. You can however cheat it in, both in 1 and 2.

In Extremo was going to be included in G1, but were removed for licensing reasons. The code is still there, and I believe there's a mod that restores them. Search the German site for the mod. There's also an easy way to remove the US censorship, if you have it.
