"Odium" is actually the proper name of this title, and the one by which it is identified on most websites that mention it. I wonder why GOG is selling this game under the "Gorky 17" title, instead of "Odium?" For that matter, I wonder why the game would be called "Gorky 17" at all, since the entire game takes place in the town of Lubin, and Gorky 17 is just a part of the backstory.

Odium is the title of the NA release, Gorky 17 is the title of the European release - the one gog has rights to distribute.

Regarding the choice of title, I think the logic is that the events taking place near Lublin are, or seem to be, a repeat of what happened in Gorky 17.

Odium sounds silly anyway

Gorky 17 just sounds cooler :)

Od-i-um (as I recall on the box), was for the North American release. Odium carries with it a more sinister meaning as Odium has the meaning of; hatred and condemnation accompanied by loathing or contempt.

gog, likely obtained the license for Gorky 17 and not the North American version of the game. I can only imagine that it is the exact same game.

A bigger issue is the fact that gog has forgotten about Gorky 17 and the problems it has from its release here. They want their uses to play a substandard graphics edition and are not concerned about the problems people who bought the game have had.

This was the title that shook my faith in gog, and it has yet to be restored. There is no money in fixing the gmae only selling it as is.

Really? I finished it about a week ago, and had no problems with it. Although the graphics WERE pretty bad, I figured that that was probably a good thing, considering how grotesque most of the monsters were. I didn't want to see them with better textures.
I for one never knew it had another title but "Gorky 17".
But yeah, it's buggy as Hell... Just to make it run requires to alter the hardware configuration on my machine, and there's at least a 30% chance that during any given combat, it will stop after a monter attacking with it repeating a threatening animation, forcing a reload. With the overall difficulty, it's essentially a game breaker...
Am playing gorky 17 right now and never had a problem with it and am using Vista
