In two words: it's an alternative Russian translation of Gorky 17. It was being sold as a separate game.
Long story: there has never been a proper translation of Gorky 17 into Russian. The initial translation changed most of the characters and plot elements - Russians became the good guys, and Americans became the bad guys (probably to make the game more appealing to local audience). Other than that, it was okay.
Less than a month after the initial release our publishers released Gorky 18 (someone probably wanted to make twice the money from a single game). It was the same game with supposedly "more funny" and "mature" translation made by a popular internet translator. In reality - the story didn't get any closer to the original, but was filled with corny jokes and lowbrow humor. Well, some liked it.
On the original topic - try software renderer. The game won't look as pretty, but it should work.
