Few games have grabbed my attention like Gorky 17. I bought the game months ago without knowing the problems I would have just to start the game. After a few attempts I manage to get it working in a very stable condition. I was not prepared for the game's rules and combat. Many things I enjoyed and at the same time very frustrated at the choices the devs went with when they made this game. The combat is solid most of the times (depending on the map which could have a real negative effect.) In the beginning you really can't make any mistakes or you will be ripped into shreds. The game comes at you with no holds bar from the start. Ammo have not been this rare in a game since REmake for the Gamecube but there is still enough to go around. I will say this much I am glad I bought this game despite its flaws. I would urge people to give it a try but be warned as soon as you press New Game it is No Mercy.
Well, I did try it months ago. Still can't get it to even run and frankly I don't expect it to ever do so. I wrote that money off. >_>
The game is a "Survival Horror" type of game but its not as hard as people say it is . For anyone having problems I suggest you guys take advantage of charged weapons (like the flamethrower) and melee ones , most of the time you can stun enemies (even some bosses) witch helps a lot .
There are also some super weapons that can be used (tho I finished the game without them) another important aspect is how you spend your points when you level up (for example accuracy only works on ranged we ponds) , counter strikes give you a free hit and having 0 calmness will enrage you (meaning you can combo these two particular skills).
I think learning the way the monsters attack and move is helpful. You can use their movement and weapons against them, making sure you're guys are in areas where you can maximize your attacks and minimize your damage taken. You can do some battles without taking a scratch. I'm not that good though, so I don't know if it's possible to do lots of battles that way, but some I was able to.

Personally the game didn't grab my attention that much, but I'm a fan of olde school turn-based tactical games, so I really enjoyed the game from that perspective. I always thought Odium was a very underrated game.
