I'm not sure if it's a glitch or a feature, but is the map supposed to be this hidden until you zoom in?

Does it get better with a building or do I just have a graphical error?

Well I fixed the map issue but now I have a different issue. EVERYTHING IS SUPER SHINY!
Granted it's playable, but it's really annoying when everything gets an orange sheen to it, so if anyone has a solution for this please inform me; this game seems amazing and I just want to play it the way it's meant to be played. :)
