There seems to be a bug in version 1.1.8 that prevents the game to save. When downgrading back to version 1.1.7 saving is possible again.

You should send a ticket to support if you haven't already, maybe the support/devs are unaware of the issue.

The problem is already solved. It seems that a required save directory wasn't created during the installation.

I think so. I have already updated to the newest version and saving is possible.

I'm sorry, but a friend told me that the problem with saving has not been fixed, a new update is not available.

Okay, I'll contact support to tell them about this :)

Edit : So, I send a message explaining the issue to support, and linking to this thread !

For people having the saving issue, if I understood well, you simply have to go into the installation folder of the game "C:\GOG Games\Ghost 1.0", and to create a folder "save" which wasn't created during the installation.

If your game launch in German, you can change the language in the options in game, or modify the file "config_sp.cfg" in the installation folder. In this file, change the value "<languageGame>5</languageGame>" to "<languageGame>2</languageGame>" and save the file (yes, only the number changed, it's the number of the selected language ;)).

Hope this will helps :)

Edit : For the save issue, I understood more what's happening.
In fact the game creates a folder "unepic" in which is the folder "save" with the save file in the folder "C:\Users\[MyUserName]\AppData\Roaming\". The game can't load it, and you have to manually cut/past the save folder and saved game inside into "C:\GOG Games\Ghost 1.0" to be able to load. But after you did this, it seems to work well.

Edit2 : 12/12/19 support is now aware of the issue.
I contacted the dev : he's working on this. He told me too, for language : "Just find and remove the "config_sp.cfg" file, and the game will ask you for a language and all configuration will be reset."

I'm sorry, but a friend told me that a new update is available (1.1.8b) but the problem with saving has not been fixed!

Yes, it seems that this update only corrects the language issue.
But the dev is very certainly working on the saving issue now, he asked me details in emails.
Does your friend have the exact same issue than me, with the same solution working ?

Just as reminder :

Saving issue :
The game simply creates the save folder in a wrong place.
In the folder "C:\Users\[MyUserName]\AppData\Roaming\", the game creates a folder "unepic" in which is the folder "save" with the save file of Ghost 1.0. The game can't load it because this save folder should be in the installation folder "C:\GOG Games\Ghost 1.0" (by default).
You have to manually cut the save folder (with saved game inside) located in "C:\Users\[MyUserName]\AppData\Roaming\unepic", and past it into "C:\GOG Games\Ghost 1.0" to be able to load the game. But after you did this, it seems to work well (the issue seems to be when the game creates the save folder for the first time).

Or you simply have to go into the installation folder of the game "C:\GOG Games\Ghost 1.0" right after the instal, and to create a folder "save" which wasn't created during the installation. But I haven't tried it now.

I just experienced this issue, created the folder, and it worked.
While it would be nice to have a patch to prevent this error on future installs,as of now at least this solves the issue.
Many thanks to everyone on this thread. I was playing on Playonlinux / Wine, and I thought it might have been a problem with the "emulation" instead; glad I checked here.

I can confirm that creating a 'save' directory in the game folder resolved the issue under wine as well.
Game works perfectly otherwise.
Just bought this game and ran into the issue as well. It's a year later now, so I'm mind boggled why this problem isn't fixed by gog/the devs yet.

Thanks for the heads-up.

no, because the same thing just happened to me, and I just got the game, in 2022

Damn.
Have you sent a ticket to gog's support to talk about this ?

I just send an email to the dev, to say the issue is still here.
