ussnorway: you just installed Galaxy to c program files so helper doesn't have permission to run... this has nothing to do with the patch except it is treated as a new install by your system so isn't trusted

the fix is to install Galaxy [or anything else for that matter] outside the C program files folder... its in D Galaxy on my system but as long as its not on external drives or program files you should be fine
if it's not the patch then why did previous versions all work fine? they definitely broke something this time as my gog galaxy client has always been installed on my c drive.

Getting the same errors but the client works fine otherwise.

My installation has always been in \Program Files and there were no errors like this before.

So if its a "trust" issue or could be something else and the "trust" thing is incidental, its need to be fixed.

as i said Microsoft treats the patch as a new build of Galaxy so its not trusted, which is the default setting on your OS btw

having Galaxy on your C drive is fine just not c program files... i would uninstall Galaxy, make a new folder like C Galaxy or C Gog and install Galaxy to that

its no skin off my nose but you posted an error message and that is what it is telling you went wrong... good luck mate

That would be temporary solution, but ridiculous in this day - I'll leave it where it is.

'\Program Files\' is what the installer recommends when it is run during installation so i guess they should just leave it blank and have the user enter an alternate path to install since their app isn't trusted by Microsoft from here on.
Having the same error and use different drive / install location. So nothing to do with the instal path:

is your E drive an exturnal perhaps?

no, it is not an external drive
The same "Faulting Application" error affected another unrelated application i am using called "ASUS GPU TWEAK 3" where it would post errors in the Application Event log when starting or closing the app - similar to what is happening on GOG - in my case the GOG Helper error appears in the App event log when it first starts.

ASUS released an update about 3 days ago and the latest update i installed fixed it.

Their note mentions the fix as:
The update includes a fix for an issue that may have caused error messages to appear on certain platforms when GPU Tweak III was opened or closed.

It is for the app developers to fix and not for us to perform workarounds like alternate paths etc to avoid an error.

C0000409 is Stack Buffer Overflow, not permissions.
