After updating Galaxy client a black window with this message appears:

"Oops! Something went wrong. Click below to log in to GOG Galaxy"

but under the message there is nothing clickable.

Attached image is better than words.

Tried few actions before posting:

1) Uninstall and reinstall from web installer (without touching the installation folder)
2) Deleted GOG.com folder inside C:\User\<Username>\Local, uninstall and install again
3) Same as step 2. After uninstalling I deleted installation folder (without deleting Games folder) and reinstalled

Nothing worked. What can I do?

I have this very same issue and it worked earlier today. Also reinstalled, no luck.

Same here, same useless window. Already tried to uninstall and reinstall, no changing.
Also trying to download a game (purchased a few minutes ago, sigh) simply download the installer for GoG Galaxy and the issue is the same.
Yep, and same here.
Ditto. It still worked a couple of hours ago, but now it's dead.
May I ask what operation system did you install Galaxy on? Same error for me but it isn't here anymore after I rolling back the client to a previous version.

edit: misreading. The client is still launchable so you must be using Windows 10. I got the same error the day they released those updates, and reinstalling only making it can not open at all because it doesn't support Windows 7. Sorry, there's nothing I can help here :(

I was struggling with this last night, I found that navigating to where Galaxy was installed, and then alternate clicking on GalaxyClient.exe choosing 'run as admininstator' seemed to fix the log in issue ( I also did the same with GalaxyClientHelper.exe)

hope that helps, short term and wasn't just a one off since I'm not in Windows very often

I had the exact same issue. Thought it was the update I just installed, so spent ages uninstalling and deleting all data in various folders (even though I told the uninstaller to remove data).

This morning, it was all working again. I think there was an issue on Gog's side with the login system.
Now I am facing this issue, when I attempt to launch it it spins a bit then get the black screen with the error message.

YES, YES, that DID work, the trick is to do it on GalaxyClientHelper.exe first and then on GalaxyClient.exe. It worked for me at least.
Sounds pretty serious...

Have you people checked your anti virus scanners to see if anything from GOG are blocked?

For me i have windows 10 and in windows defender under protection history it tells me what has been blocked.

Also in control panel under system and security there's some settings for allowing apps and such through firewalls.

I'm thinking Microsoft may have done an update that GoG may not be aware of or something that maybe blocking something, Or maybe all of you are using the same third party antivirus or firewall?
I have sent logs to the GoG team on what is happening when the client tries to login. Hope they look at it.
I am on a mac running BigSur.
Same issue. Here I thought it would get resolved immediately since it was the winter sale but apparently not.

This has been going on for over a month now (since early December 2021) and as a result I've lost interest in supporting GOG and honestly I'm at the point where I don't think I ever will.

I'm not the only one. A friend of mine had the same issue and it still doesn't work for him either.

There were a lot of games I wanted to buy but if I can't login in then what's the point? I can't even access the games I have purchased since their client won't even log me in.

All I get is the "oops something went wrong" error message non stop along with a black screen and a very long loading bar. I've tried multiple fixes like reinstalling, changing compatibility mode, running in administrator mode, installing to a new partition, installing to a new folder, manually deleting all files, allowing all GOG files in anti-virus software, disabling anti-virus software, and etc but none of them resolved the issue.

FIX your extremely buggy launcher.

I've been having the same issue and it's on one day the next it doesn't work.

Looking at the logs I see the following error messages:
- Loading web page error: login

In the log there is an entry for h__ps:__auth.gog.com:443/auth?client_id=4689...5655&layout=galaxy&origin=gog.com&redirect_uri=http s%3A%2F%2Fem bed.gog.com%2Fon_login_success%3Forigin%3Dclient&response_type=code

Pasting that URL in the browser brings up the login window so don't know why the login widget does not load in the galaxy client

I opened a support ticket and it's simply being igoned. It says it has been assigned to Cwaniak (which probably a dummy assignment) but no activity has been registered against the ticket (see attached image)

Very poor customer support :(
