I downloaded the GOG Galaxy 2.0 on Windows 11 machine. When I run it, it displays the progress bar, then says "Waiting for installation to start", then displays the error: "Failed to download necessary files. Please check your internet connection and try again." There is a link to a Support Article, but when I click it, it says I'm not autorized to display it.

Please help!

Very helpful. My internet connection is flaky, and the installer just gives up at the slightest hiccup, with no option to retry or resume.

Why couldn't they just link to the full installer instead of the thing that doesn't work and make people have to look up a solution? Also, I have the fastest internet available to me, why the heck did it take over half an hour just to download 260mb?

The idea behind these stub/web installers is that they save both the servers and the user bandwidth by only downloading the necessary components in case of an upgrade for example. In practice, they sometimes fail to work because they get blocked by the user's firewall or some other reason. Probably because they haven't moved stuff back to their content delivery network yet. Though if you haven't already, you can open a support ticket. Don't be alarmed if it immediately appears to be closed as "Solved" -- that's a quirk of the current setup; you should receive an e-mail confirmation with the actual ticket number.

The link that starts with https and ends with .exe. In browsers other than Firefox, you need an extension like JSON Viewer to make that page readable.
