Hi,

I have been notified several times now that there is a new version of GOG Galaxy, but every time I click on "Update Now" the Galaxy client closes instantly and nothing happens.

Is this a know problem?
Can I find logfiles somewhere that I could sent to support? I haven't found any in the Galaxy install directory.

My Windows user btw does NOT have admin rights by default.

Best regards.
I have the same problem as well. I don't want to DL and reinstall Galaxy again. The last time I did that I lost almost 100 hours of Baldur's Gate. Maybe the GOG team might post an answer to this issue. I see from a google searcht that others have been having this problem with earlier versions. Frustrating.

Do you mean 100 hours of recorded play time or did you lose saved games?

Anyway, I bit the bullet and uninstalled --> reinstalled GOG Galaxy. So far my statistics, after importing my installation folders again, seem unchanged.
If Galaxy fails to update you can always grab the latest version from https://www.gogalaxy.com/en/ and overwrite the previous installation.

I have a similar problem. The Galaxy offers update, then gives an error message that it couldn't update and offers to download the latest version directly from the site.

I've downloaded and ran the install, but it abandoned install with a message that I've already have the latest version.

Which still continues to request the update.

I had the same problem (that's how I ended up here), I had 2.0.20.39 and no admin rights with the user (as everyone should use their computers).

Simply closing GOG client, downloading the installer from their website and running in the installer updated my client to 2.0.34.4. Installers GUI didn't mention anything about upgrading or updating, it looked like new install but basically just seemed to overwrite the GOG client's files.

I didn't even need to login again to the client so it remembered my settings.

Which version is your installation reporting?
2.0.20.39 or 2.0.23.4?

It says:

New update 2.0.23 available

I admit, that I didn't manage to find what version I have. How can I find out? My changelog mentions 2.0.23 Hotfix

You can check the version number by opening the installation folder of Galaxy 2.0,
most likely

C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy

right click on GalaxyClient.exe - click on Properties (last option)

in the Properties window, click on Details; the version number is listed somewhere there.

Thanks, yes it is 2.0.23.4

Still insists on updating

You can try to delete or rename the file "GalaxyClient.exe" and then run the Galaxy-installer. It seems to only check the version of that file.
I have no idea if this causes the installer to behave differently and ignore your previous settings, but it should be safer than an uninstall-reinstall.

It also sounds like your installation updated some files and left some files as they were (as if they were locked by the system), so try the installation after a clean reboot, but before that, make sure that "Auto start" is turned off in Galaxy.

I hope it helps.

I feel like the pattern seems to be "running without Administrator rights" as I'm having the same problem with auto-updates and I do the same practice of running always on a User account and just using "run as Administrator" as needed because it's better security policy.

Which is weird because my actual games have no particular issues asking for Admin permission when they auto-update.
Same story here.
When I click update now, the client just closes and never comes back.
earlier i bought cyberpunk 2077 off cd keys and it said i had to download go galaxy 2.0 so i did it opened first time i used it started to download the game but then i got a notifacation saying that the install had crashed and now it doesn't let me get back on the installer adn i tried deleting it and downlaoding it back but i just get error messages when its trying to install gog galaxy 2.0
