Where do they go? Nothing appeared in my Windows Download folder. It says it downloaded the 8 items I requested, but I have no idea where they went.

On my System they appear in a subfolder of the games installation folder called "!Downloads". Galaxy should open up a Windows-.Explorer instance when you click on the entry in the download list.

If you double click on the installer you have downloaded in the "Download" section it should open the location where the files are saved.
To set the download folder go to Settings > Installing, updating and there change the "Other downloads folder".
