Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Serious Sam, Ghost Recon, Far Cry 1, 2, and more 60% off!

Do you like shooting things? Most gamers do, which makes the mainstream media overly excited and judgemental far too often. But let's not go there. We know that gaming shootouts are kept well-within the boundaries of virtual worlds and are all about fun, challenge, and feeling bad-ass while you relax in front of your computer screen. So, putting aside all controversy around first-person perspective shooters, let's jump right into action with 21 games that go "pew pew pew", "ra-tatatah", and "boom" for your entertainment. This weekend, you can get them with an explosive 60% off discount in our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/fps_legends_weekend_promo_221113]Spectacular FPS Shootout promo! Let's take a look on some of the titles, shall we?

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - War Chest takes you to the fronts of World War II and let's you take part in some of the allied forces most crucial operations. The game became famous for creating a believable and suggestive image of battle conditions with a real infantry soldier in the role of the game's hero. The War Chest edition includes the original campaign that will take you from German bases in Algiers, through the D-Day landing in Normandy, to the occupied France, and both Spearhead and Breakthrough expansions. Enlist now, for only $3.99!

Too much realism for your taste? You prefer fast-paced action with hordes of enemies coming for your bad-ass protagonist and absurdly overpowered weapons at his disposal to cut the baddies to little pieces? No problem! We've got you covered with Serious Sam: The First Encounter and Second Encounter, games that became famous exactly for the type of old-school gameplay you're looking for. Well, that and excellent epic level design. Only $ 2.39 each!

Far Cry is the game that changed the way people perceive video games, thanks to the astonishing CryENGINE. In terms of lifelike graphics, physics, advanced enemy AI, and sandbox style FPS-ing, there is "before Far Cry" and "after Far Cry". Far Cry 2 took the game realism to another level--fully destructible environment, wind, rain, day, and night that affect enemy AI, and a beautiful African setting. The game features a spectacular story presented in a huge single player campaign which takes form 40 to 70 hours to beat. Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition contains the full Far Cry 2 game, including all previously released patches and the Far Cry 2 Fortunes DLC with additional content like new weapons and vehicles. Pick both games for only $3.99 each.

That's just a small taste of all the hardcore FPS action you can get in our Spectacular FPS Shootout promo until Tuesday, November 26, at 4:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!
Own all but six games in the promo. The Blake Stone games don't interest me, neither do the Tom Clancy ones, so I'm just gonna buy UT GOTY and Unreal 2.

Oh, and just in case anyone was wondering:

-Painkiller
-UT Gold
-UT 2004
-Serious Sam 1
-Postal 2 Complete
-Blood
-Far Cry

These^ are all must-buys. Everything else is a matter of taste .
Nice promo. :)

deathmyrk: Do any of the Unreal Tournament games still feature active online multiplayer? I remember having a blast on UT on PS2, and UT 2004 on PC back in 2005.
Yep! They're both still fairly active.
Nice, the only one I don't have is Shadow Warrior Complete. Going to pass on it for now though, sorry GOG. Maybe during Christmas.
Great promo for FPS lovers, like myself. Thanks GOG!

P1na: Personally, the only one I had back in the day was Rogue Spear, and played it to death. Later on I got my hands on one of the later ones (Vegas whatever), and I found it so sad it had become a standard shooter. I wanted my door blowing explosive charges! I wonder if there are any newer games with that original Rainbow Six feel.
I would highly recommend finding a copy of Rainbow Six: Raven Shield and its expansion (expansions if you track down a copy of Iron Wrath) as it's still brilliant. It will be sub £3 comes the Steam Christmas sale.

Hidden and Dangerous 2 is absolutely worth tracking down if you're able to find a copy - can't wait for this to arrive on GoG.

SWAT 3 and SWAT 4 are both fantastic tactical shooters - SWAT 3 unfortunately isn't in this sale but worth $9.99 if you're so inclined to lay down full price for it.

I can't think of any recently released tactical shooters that have captured my imagination as well as those listed above (the GRAW games weren't tactical enough for my liking) but all four that I have mentioned are eminently playable by today's standards.

Someone convince me to give Blood 2 a chance.

Mccy_McFlinn: The original Ghost Recon was first person, Ghost Recon 2 was third person but that wasn't on PC. Ghost Recon is a brilliant game, I'd definitely recommend getting it. It's not as intimidating or complex as Rainbow Six so don't be put off by concerns of it being too hard or niche.

I forgot to mention about how good Rainbow Six is, as well. The best way to approach it is to skip the planning completely and just control a single team in turn, creeping your way through the level. Once you're used to the level setup you can start extracting fun from the planning system should you so wish. Auto-aim helps if you're struggling as this is an old-school tactical shooter where you'll need to learn the levels to be truly effective.
Hmm. Well I do own Ghost Recon: Future Solder on Steam. Mostly Because I'm hoping it will be a more tactual version of Crysis. A game I like but wish badly had more gameplay options. And I was thinking of picking up Rainbow Six Vegas when Black Friday rolls around.
I was hoping those two would work as a light introduction to the series and if I liked them I could work my way backwards to the older games.
Your thoughts on those two games?

Kunovski: still waiting for an 80 % sale on the new Shadow Warrior :)

a good promo though!
I'm still waiting for any kind of deal on the new SW. This is a decent collection, but its absence is definitely noticeable.

the_bard: Someone convince me to give Blood 2 a chance.
No. No, I won't. As much as I wish I could, I refuse to recommend Blood 2 to anyone running a modern PC. I gave up on a playthrough just this week due to frequent crashes to desktop due to the "Client MFC application has stopped Working." error. I made it about a third of the way through before I had couldn't take it anymore. It's a shame too, because it was fun while it lasted. :(

While you might be able to complete the game without ever seeing this error, I can't advise you to purchase it.

I've not played GR: Future Soldier yet as it's not fallen enough in price to tempt me but R6: Vegas was a fun, enjoyable game, alas, not really in the same vein as the original Ghost Recon or R6.

R6: Vegas is really more of a standard shooter in that you start that the beginning of a corridor and come to a conclusion at the end of it. If Future Soldier is like the GR: Advanced Warfighter games, then it's closer to R6: Vegas than the original GR. Again, fun games but not as open or as tactical as the series used to be. Once I'd overcome the anger I felt that each series had moved on from its roots, I found enjoyment in both the Vegas games and the GRAW games (and no doubt will with GR:FS when I get my hands on it).

The original Ghost Recon is much more approachable then R6 but only because the planning phase is completely removed; whilst you can play R6 without any planning at all the fact that you have to pass through the planning screens could be seen as confusion/overwhelming. The environments are large and the maps good fun to skulk around in, picking off tangos. For such a low price, I can't recommend GR enough. R6 I would hesitate to recommend to everyone but once you're past the concern of it being too tough you have one of the best tactical shooters ever made.
Do people still play UT 2004 online?

Licurg: ...Postal 2 Complete... These^ are all must-buys. Everything else is a matter of taste .
What makes Postal 2 a must buy? I reluctantly passed on it during the insomnia sale because despite the appeal of an open world reviews indicated it was fairly short and the humor does look to my taste, am I overlooking something?
avatar
dal4fsu: Thinking about picking up Far Cry 1+2 and Unreal 2. Do you think they will be cheaper during the Christmas sale as I don't need them just yet since I won't be playing them anytime soon?
No, it's anyone's guess but I don't think prices will be much cheaper during the Winter Sale. In the Summer Sale EVERYTHING was 50% off (versus 60% here) with certain items bundled together for discounts at least 75%. The Summer bundles were great but none involved any first person shoots, and the chances Far Cry will go for >60% seem limited. However, the Far Cry games have been repeatedly on sale recently so maybe the developer/published is more aggressively discounting).
Purchased MoH:AA Warchest. Already had everything else that I wanted in one place or another.
