Pid, Strike Suit Zero, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Trine, La Mulana, and more indie titles 60% off!

In the golden age of classic PC gaming there was very little limit to developers creativity when it came to action games. Each new title could introduce new ideas, gameplay models, technical advancements, and aesthetic choices. Nowadays the progress slowed down almost to a full stop, and the diversity toned down by far. New action games developed by large studios follow same patterns and rarely experiment with their identity. Even the best and most elaborate titles rarely divert from the popular choices. Are we really doomed to buy the same games over, and over again? Indies to the rescue! Modern independent developers present the same amount of sheer unlimited creativity as their predecessors in the 1980s and 1990s. Even when drawing from the classics, their games present the same enthusiasm and imagination as the titles many of us grew up with. That's why today, we're proud to present you with our Indie Action promo. You can get 12 indie titles, each of them original and fresh in its own way, with a 60% off discount!

There's , a gorgeous, original platforming adventure telling a story of a little boy stranded on a mysterious planet, for only $3.99. Or, if you like some physics-based puzzles in your platformers, for the same price you can grab Trine, a game following the fantastic voyage of three likeable characters, each with a special set of abilities. Or perhaps you like your games with a bit of punishing difficulty? Say, maybe you're missing the excitement of deep space combat? Don't miss your chance to take the steers of Strike Suit Zero, for only $7.99. In this action packed, visually stunning revival of space combat sim genre, with many new ideas, you'll pilot a craft capable of transforming into a giant robot to take on swarms of enemies with unsurpassed maneuverability and firepower. Too serious for your taste? No problem! For only $3.99 you can take the fight somewhere completely different in Symphony. In this music-driven vertical shoot-em-up full of eye-candy, and packed with a dynamic electro-soundtrack, you will defend your very own music collection from a strange virtual entity that threatens to corrupt your hard drive.

Mivas: Is Symphony hard core? Or is it more casual; when you feel like listening to the good music and play something to entertain yourself?

JudasIscariot: Have you ever played SHMUPS like Gradius or R-Type?
I miss both of those games.........

JudasIscariot: ...
I don't know how I will be able to play high-octane difficulties, Pianissimo is whopping my butt at times. And one would think that playing Nightcall by Kavinsky would be easy peasy. Well, it is not :D. It's refreshing to play something catchy that really tests my eye-hand coordination.

The only weakness is an inability to move the windowed game to the second screen. It limits my time spent on it a lot. :( I have read developers are looking in it, though.

Electric Love so goes into my playlist.

Hey JudasIscariot, any idea when we will get of the Giana Sisters update including the Remixed Mode? It has been released on Steam a while ago...
Kinda wish Bard's Tale was in this sale, it's technically indie

SpikedCereal: Indies is the only thing GOG likes, apparently GOG hates AAA titles, you know, the games I want to see here the most
FTFY.

Or do you have indisputable evidence (i.e. hard data) to support your original claim? If you do, please share.
I actually recommend Strike Suit Zero (altho story seems a bit off imho), Giana Sisters & Symphony (Trine is ok. havent played La Mulana or Pid despite having both..)
So many great games, but I want to buy at most one. Now it's a tough choice. I am thinking about Strike Suit Zero, La Mulana, Tiny Big or 99 Levels. Anyone can help me here? I am not that hardcore player, I play many different genres, so I am worried that most of that games would be too hard for me. Especially I heard that La Mulana and Strike Suit Zero are nowhere close to being easy...

timppu: I have all these games from GOG already (and like some of them quite a bit).

GOG could rectify the situation by releasing Trine 2, then I'd have something more to buy. And while you are at it, Torchlight 2 and Sacred 2 Gold would be nice too.
I'd like those too. I just picked up Sacred 2 Gold on humblebundle I'd still love to have a drm free copy
Bought another copy of Trine. In exchange I expect the developers of the game to release Trine 2 DRM-free on GOG immediately.

I'm waiting...
Not my cup of tea, sadly! Good for my wallet :D
Nice. I only have Symphony from this list, which I quite recommend to folks who might like shmups but who aren't very good at them, like myself. Think I'll finally pick up Pid and Trine, thanks.

At 5000+ wishlist votes, I too agree that Torchlight 2 should be here. Sacred 2 Gold and Trine 2 have significant numbers, too, so it'd be nice for them to show up.

As always, though, I'm personally hoping we get to see more good old games (older than 2007 [Penumbra], that is) show up in the following weeks, perhaps as fall approaches.

La Mulana is a platformer (comes with 3 CD's worth of music!!). Strike Suit Zero is good if u prefer arcadey rather than simulation in space. There is a story. But its mostly action. Some people like it. Others dont. Just remember its an indie title :). Probably good idea to check out some videos on youtube before u buy....

La Mulana is not just your usual platformer, it's a metroidvania.

Bloodygoodgames: As for the promo, I DO recommend Pid,.

htown1980: I am stuck on the red balloon boss. Will I ever get past it?
Don't know, How smart are you? :)

Honestly, I got horribly stuck a couple of times (can't remember where but I do remember once was actually quite early on) and eventually succumbed to watching a Let's Play to find out how someone else did it. Helped immeasurably and I was able to keep on going. If you've been stuck there for days I'd recommend that!
