It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hello everyone,
I would like to update you on the latest changes to GOG Downloader (the optional app that can be used to download your GOG.com purchases).
We have just released an updated version (0.9.30) which includes three important things:
1. a faster app core (thx to updated Adobe AIR Runtime, and jQuery 1.3.3)
2. updated file resuming, witch will now allow:
- more reliable auto-resuming, witch should fix _some_ of the problems
- auto discovery of incomplete/complete files
3. an option to send bug report to gog.com
If you have the downloader already installed, you will be notified about the update next time you launch the app; if you don't have the app yet, check out the list of downloads in My Account page for any of your purchases)
2. UPDATED APP CORE
While updating our source code, we also updated all libraries involved which should make the whole app a bit faster and less resource hungry.
3. UPDATED FILE RESUMING
This was, and still is, the most important thing about the downloader. We have received numerous reports from our users, that there are issues with this, especially on slower, less reliable, connections.
The real problem with fixing this is actually recreating this situation, to have a peek at what's really causing this. We tried a lot of different setups, we've used faulty network hardware, we used cellphones as modems to access Internet, we tried disconnecting cables on different levels of the connection, we used software to slow the connection down, we tried downloading files to very slow hard drives, but so far we couldn't recreate problems that some of you were experiencing.
So, as the first step, we changed the way that files are handled, discovered, and resumed. It should help with at least some of the problems.
The second thing, was to enable the downloader app to discover files from previous sessions. This means that if you have an incomplete file backed up before the downloader encountered an error, you can copy that incomplete file into download folder, then add the game to the downloader again, and the app will continue from the incomplete file instead of starting at zero. This is hardly a resolution for the problem, but it will at least allow for some temporary workaround, until we get all the issues sorted out.
So if you have problems using the downloader, you can try to:
1. Start the download normally
2. From time to time, make a copy of the temporary files in the GOG Downloader downloads folder to a safe backup location
3. If the downloader encounters an error click "Send report" (more info below), and shut it down
4. Copy your backed up files back into GOG Downloader downloads folder
5. Relaunch the app, and resume the transfer (or add the game again using the website), the transfer should resume at the point of last backup
Please remember, that this is only a temporary workaround as we work on fixing all the real issues.
3. BUG REPORTS
As mentioned before, we are adding an option to submit bug reports straight from the downloader. Every time you encounter an error while using GOG Downloader, you will have an option to "Send report" to us - please click on it, as it is essential for understanding and solving the problems :).
The report includes:
* GOG Downloader application logs (detailed information about file transfers and errors)
* your gog.com user name
Report does NOT include:
* any personal or hardware info (no hardware logs, no apps list, etc)
We will keep these logs as short as possible and we'll be using them only to find & fix bugs in GOG Downloader. After that we will delete them. We won't spam you, won't spy on your system and won't create any stats regarding downloader and it's usage.

Purchased Arx Fatalis today, and because I recently restored my machine I re-installed AIR and the downloader. When I actually RUN the downloader, all I get is the application with a grey box in the foreground, blank, and a close button that I can't click. Bad install? AIR freaking out?
Attachments:
The font in the installer isn't sharp, bit aliased all around, and maybe a just too small. It doesn't really "flow in", at least not in Vista with Aero, and ClearType.
I have basic problem.
I can't log in GoG Downloader with my GoG Account.
I tried so many time, but he say "Entered e-mail or password is wrong Try Again..." only.
Of course,my e-mail address and password is correct, because they are accepted by GoG site.
Why GoG Downloader reject my account?
I am fed-up with the downloader that keeps giving me connection error and kills off my entire painstakingly downloaded files! Why can't the downloader pick up from where it stopped? I am taking matters into my own hands. Every hour or so, I stop the download and do a backup of the file. (The partially downloaded .gogDownload file) Then go to this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\ELS\com.gog.downloader.SIGNATURE
where:
USERNAME - is your system user name
SIGNATURE - is a long string of random letters & numbers
Copy PrivateEncryptedData and PrivateEncryptedDatai into another location.
If the download gets reset (and it happens very often, trust me!) just copy back the two files back into the same location where you got them in the first place.
(Applicable only for Windows XP. Sorry if my post has already been mentioned somewhere else. I found this out myself through painful trial-and-error.)
I still have not fully completed my 2.9 GB of Colin McRae yet, but I think the progress is good, 3 kB/s at a time! Wish me luck!

Sorry for the trouble you're having!
It should restart however if it encounters a problem it isn't prepared for, then it will restart the whole download -- in our own tests we haven't been able to recreate some of the problems you and other users are having.
We're planning an update in the future (no info when yet) which will help us identify more problems and improve the downloader.
Please contact support about the downloading issue/speed, we may be able to help identify the problem.
Also there's the downloader log file which you can send to us (here's how you extract it).

doctoren: How many are using the downloader on a Linux platform? I often get a corrupted file message and the download has to start over. This usually happend to games larger than 1gb. I have no issues if downloading by browser.

I wasn't aware that you could run these games on anything other than Windows XP and Vista. I was always under the impression that those two were it
When I'm downloading with GOG Downloader speed is really slow (100-500 KB/s). If I'm using FlashGet --- speep is like 1-1,5 MB/s....
What's wrong with GOG tool?

Do you have some kind of anti-virus/spyware etc type of checking happening in the background and did you put the gog downloader in as exceptions?
If you continue to have this problem - please read the above posts about logging etc and send the log through to support.
*Sorry ignore this. I just failed to use my settings button* great work on the downloader!

I've had repeated problems with the GOG downloader application, where it will randomly corrupt my download. I've included a screenshot of the most recent instance (well, most recent as of this post).
Some notes:
* OS: Windows Vista, 32-bit.
* I'm on a 512k connection. The download speed in the picture isn't possible -- the downloader caps out under 60k/s when working properly, and sometimes I might squeeze 70-80k/s out of the line with browser downloads. The speed via my ISP is normally around 60k/s downstream.
* The speed display fluctuates. One second it'll say 130k/s, the next 7, the next 98, the next initializing...this is one of the signs that the download's corrupted. And this is while it's paused (or, at any rate, it's supposed to be. It's hard to say with the program in that state).
* The displayed amount downloaded fluctuates too, in sync with the speed display.
This is the fifth or sixth time this has happened. The other games I was able to eventually successfully download, but this one's bigger than any of them and so I'm not sure it'll ever complete before it can get corrupted. What's going on? Should I just download via browser instead?

Big problems with the downloader, every now and then stops the download and flushes the queue, so I have to start from beginning. My internet connection is very random, but http works for smaller things: downloading DN3d through HTTP was no problem but Fallout Tactics always errors out before 50%. Downloader can't even reach 20%.
latest log attached
EDIT: just noticed attachments can only be images. So, no logs attached.

We won't be able to provide much help via the forum.
Had big problems donwloading bigger files. Firefox and IE would always eventually quit and wouldn't resume.
Gogdownloader paused randomly and sometimes would resume after pressing resume button but eventually would hang to initialising phase and after about 10-15 sec would give me error 1004 and clear the download. I tried all kinds of tweaks to router settings etc. but nothing worked.
Solution for me was to quit the downloader right away when I saw it hangs to initialising phase after pressing resume and *before* it gave me error 1004. Needed to kill the process from task manager too as it remains in memory. Maybe just killing the process right away works also. Then started the downloader again and pressed resume and it started downloading again. This happened several times during the download so had to repeat it everytime. Also had to uncheck the autostart transfer option because I think it gave the 1004 error faster. Not sure about that as I tried all kinds of things there.
Managed to download both Gothic 2 gold and Spellforce platinum this way. Takes some time as you have to check often if the download has paused. Sometimes it pauses after 20 Megs downloaded, sometimes after 500 Megs etc. so seems random. Don't know what the problem is and if it's at my end but at least can now download big files using this method.

If you aren't going to use the GOG downloader, I'd strongly suggest you use a download manager for large files. I use , but it's not free; [url=http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm]FlashGet is a good free option. A download manager uses various methods to keep a connection alive and allows you to resume a download if it fails without losing any progress or ending up with a corrupted file; because of the way GOG's verification works you may need to feed in a new source link in order to resume if too much time has elapsed, but other than that I've had no problems doing it this way.
wait, why is this no longer stickied?!
