Has anyone played this game? A mix of Diablo and samurai I like the idea I was wondering if anyone could recommend this game and if they know if it would play on win 7?
Played it ages ago on a pc magazine demo disc it was pretty cool game if I recall. I think I wanted the game after playing the demo but never got it as it was very expensive and I didn't have a computer good enough to run it at the time. Not sure if it would play on windows 7 I think I was playing the demo on windows 2000

I've got the retail copy and it works on Vista; no idea about Win7 though.

I had fun with it the first time I installed it, years ago, but when I tried to play it again recently - not that much. I've never played through it (but I didn't have enough patience to play through Diablo 2 either, so maybe that's not saying anything).

It can be a bit hard, I think, in any case you always need to watch out for 4 samurais at the same time because you're playing a group, not a single character, but in real-time. You control only one character of your choice, but you can switch between all and the others follow you and fight by your side and you need to keep an eye on their health status etc., too.

Also, while you're exploring the lands with your group of four, three more samurais are sitting on the "substitute's bench". IIRC you can exchange party members whenever you want to, but only those by your side will gain xp. So you also need to watch out that the others don't get too far behind if you're always using the same "team" of four (or less).

No idea on win 7, but its a great game, I like the way the loot gets recycled, I preferred it to Diablo personally, but I liked the eastern vibe alot. With the team vibe, its kinda like a faster paced BG.

Rooted out the retail box and installed, it ran perfectly on Win7, I didnt need to use compatibility or anything, just install and play. GFX look good, but I dont see an option to scale them anywhere, but they look good either way :)
Hope it comes to GOG for $6. i also hope Prince of Qin will come too as well as Revenant.
I got a free copy of it back in the day when I was writing game reviews as a freelancer. IIRC, it was a pretty good game, nothing special or unique, but it was fun game where you guide a group of warriors through all kinds of challenges.

I haven't tried it on Windows 7, and can't do that now either, as I never installed Win 7.

If you like the genre, or like eastern-themed games, I think you might like it.
Thanks everyone for the input. I was able to find a demo off of file planet and it ran perfectly on win 7. The only place to buy it was Amazon or Ebay so I might wait till I can find a real good deal.
Damn, i can't remember what i disliked in this game so much that i gave up on it. Time to reinstall! :D
I don't remember this game ever being released in a box here, i got mine from a cover cd.
I love this game, but in Win 7 x64 the game crashes. Maybe GOG can be solve the problem...
I would love to see this game on GOG.
i have the original retail release here. recently re-installed it because i had never actually played it (much).

works fine on W7x64. no issues.

but the game itself, while having an interesting enough setting, is just not that good. in comparison with other action-RPGs - Diablo, Diablo 2 or Titan Quest - ToD lacks feedback. combat is completely devoid of it, you have no feeling for hits, it's like you're cutting paper. nearly every other action-RPG has done this better than ToD, including Diablo 1 and 3 (Diablo 3 does it best, IMO).

i wouldn't mind seeing it on GOG but i wouldn't purchase it again, because i already own it, and even if i didn't i'd probably think twice about buying it.
I remember playing the demo years ago. Nice party-based ARPG, not so atmospheric compared to Diablo II.
I tried it twice but didn't get very far either time. I like those kind of games, but this one just didn't do anything for me.

I have the CD and manual (no box) so if anyone wants it, let me know. I'm sure we can work something out.
I remember playing the demo, but never got the actual game. Do you have any idea where to get it for around 5 bucks?
