Vitek: Yeah, the fight is punishing.
What about the spy quest as assassin, Erich_Zann? I wanted to kill all of them and I had to replay the fight many times.
You mean the one in the house by the gate, with the old man on the bed and the girl ? Didn't have any problem with this one. Put the old man between you and the girl so she can't shoot at you, slay the man quickly (I fought with short dagger ; dagger-flurry, fast attack & some points in critical strike worked wonders) and then corner the girl for the kill.
Alternatively I guess you could throw a net at the man and kill the girl first. Didn't try it this way though.
The third one I let go if he gave me the papers (persuasion check I think ?)

Vitek: snip [...] I hope that in full game it won't be so "jumpy."
Yeah I think they overdid it a bit with the teleport thing, but it gives the game a real gamebook feeling I quite like.

Vitek: Also could you or someone else tell me how to do raider and dig-site quests? I seem unable to get there.
When in the streets of the town, click on Map (or "M"), choose "World" in the upper right corner and you can choose a destination on the world map.

Vitek: Also, when replying to you I noticed you don't have PM button next to your online status. How is taht possible?
Seems I had the "never receive any PM" option checked. Should work now.

Kind of wished they had an auto save function.

I died against the spies. Seriously this game is hard.

Erich_Zann: With Arcanum the combat difficulty was more a case of bad combat design for me ; the whole "real-time till basically melee range" crap.
You *did* know that you can toggle on turn-based basically any time you reasonably want to, right? There's no compelling reason to have to do any combat at range in the real-time. Just hit that red button by the experience bar...

Just to be precise : what you toggle with the red button is not "turn-based" per se, but combat mode (which you select as real-time or turn-based in the options).
This said, what I meant is this : even when you choose "turn-based" combat, the rest of the game stays real-time ; meaning that either you spam the red button every two steps just in case, or as soon as an enemy considers himself in fighting range, he initiates combat, moves his full bloated movement allowance, and three times out of four it's instant melee-o-matic.
Granted, it's not as bad in the cities and with scripted battle encounters, but in the wilderness it's annoying.
Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks.
Going to try this out.
Btw what amazes me is they put the demo up on both pirate bay and demonoid trackers..like wtf hahah

Well, given that many people rather pirate MS Office than use its free alternatives, this doesn't surprise me at all.
EDIT: That way even pirates can try it out while sticking to their principles :)

This looks great! A post-apocalyptic RPG with tactical combat and choice and consequence? An assassin character and assassin guild? Yes please! I might just forget about Wasteland 2. Kidding.

How about this in the story FAQ -

Q: Do I have to play political games, and learn how to make friends and influence people?
A: No. I see that you are a man of few words, but much violence. Yes, that works too. After all, Spartacus wasn't known for long-winded speeches.
I think I need to download it now.
Need to try this sounds like my cup of tea.

Well, they're called "bandwidth-saving torrent trackers" and not "if you use these you are immediately a pirate", so not quite sure what's amazing about that.
Been waiting for this game for soooooooooo long. Can't believe it will actually release.
