The wail of a siren, the bark of a gun. A private eye's job is never easy, and it only gets harder after the world nearly ended. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, though, and you've never given up on a tough job just because life wasn't fair. A Norm has to work hard to stay ahead of the muck that's in this world, and now's your chance to save Frisco from the worst of it. Life's like a dame: you gotta take care of it or, just when you think everything's going fine, you'll be out of luck.

That was a terrible metaphor, but when you've been kicked in the head as much as Tex has--and enjoyed as much bourbon--writing isn't your strong suit. Not much is, except finding the secrets that people don't want found, and making the world a little better.

If you're not familiar to Tex Murphy games let us make a short intro. The games take place in San Francisco, or what's left of it, in a not too distant future. You take the role of Tex Murphy, a down-on-his-luck private detective who finds it hard to make both ends meet every month. All five games are point and click, noir-style adventure games, take you through a different case and will test your deduction skills and wits.

This weekend, you can pick up the Tex Murphy games for 50% off, and see if you've got what it takes to make San Francisco a better place.
Two games from this promo are on my wishlist. Unfortunately, thanks to GOG, I've already too many great games waiting to be played. These ones will have to remained unowned for a little while longer.
The Tex Murphy games are some of the best games of my youth. I may have to go ahead and pick up Mean Streets/Martian Memorandum as I doubt I can find a good floppy drive, assuming the discs are still any good. haha!

My only wish is that we see GOG get some more of the Access Software library on here, like Countdown, Crime Wave, Links, Guardians of Eden.

FraterPerdurabo: Your GoG account should be revoked. You don't deserve such loyalty!

Zabinatrix: Hmm, yes, I guess that's only fair in this situation. I'd better find the time to play the newer Tex Murphy-games quickly, before any of the GOG-staff sees my admission of my crimes and revokes my account :)
Start with the Pandora Directive :)
Easily one of the best games ever made!
UAKM next and Overseer after that.

I also enjoyed PD, but UAKM was my favorite (probably because it introduced me to the series).

Excellent games though, so happy GOG has them.... they are what brought me to GOG in the first place.
Looks like a neat game (Pandora Directive) I am just hoping I can warm up to the controls. I dont care much for sliding the mouse to control walking (free look). It kind of gives me a headache for some reason. Otherwise, nice atmosphere and looks like a fun game.
I remember a quote from a Zero Punctuation video...

ere it is, about 1:55. :)

Thanks a lot for the helpful advice, GlassAxis, undergog and also KOC! For now I went with PD only, because my backlist is growing and I'm not sure yet if I will enjoy the series so much that I'll manage to play through more than one of them. But I'll put UAKM on my wishlist for the next promo; if I understand correctly, PD encourages replaying, so if I actually come to love it, I could play UAKM before the second playthrough of PD and also experience the original order in this way.

PD has the occasional sound stuttering on my netbook but it's minimal compared to some other DosBox GOGs I've got, and the music plays fine. Who knows, maybe my desktop PC will be able to run it without any sound issues at all. :)
I passed on Overseer, but decided to get UAKM and PD despite already owning the retail releases, just for the easier installation and not having to switch discs.
