A conflict on a celestial scale!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/nexus_the_jupiter_incident/]Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, a story-driven real-time tactical game that puts a fleet of heavily armed spacecrafts at your command, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99!

You are Marcus Cromwell, a young and ambitious captain of a legendary Stiletto spacecraft. As your career begins, a devastating war over precious resources that could grant stellar dominion ensues on the edge of the solar system. Your tactical skill and battle expertise might prove to be the tipping point of the entire conflict that future generations would call “The Jupiter Incident”.

Nexus is a TFS--which stands for a Tactical Fleet Simulation according to the game’s developers--and that seems to be the most adequate of possible descriptions. In over 30 complex missions you will command a fleet of varied spacecrafts in a fully 3D environment, choosing your own tactics to push your forces towards the victory. And between battles you will manage your flotilla--upgrade, enhance and repair your ships with the resources awarded after a successful battle.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident is a great tactical challenge with astounding visuals that will satisfy strategy gamers and space-opera fans alike, now on GOG.com for only $9.99
Good one.
The game was developed in Hungary .

dieselguy: Woooohooo, does this mean we can expect imperium galactica II? :D
That would be awesome...along with the great Imperium Galactica I

deadfolk: Incubation?

Interesting. I'm wondering what the similarities are between a squad-centric, turn-based on-land strategy game and a pew-pew, real-time, in-space strategy game.

Not disputing it (especially as I've not played Incubation since retail release and have never played Nexus). Just genuinely intrigued.

grviper: Acting outnumbered ten to one in pre-designed murderous situations, carefully picking your targets (and their "body-parts"), and intermission shopping.
This. Also, the fact that some tactical encounters are more like puzzles than combat.

And because there's leveling up of your 'people" in Nexus, as in Incubation.

JMich: I swear I read the release date as January 21, 2008 while adding the wiki page. Is my reading failing even more, or should I blame the gremlins again?
When I said "I've never heard about it" this was first thing I've checked and now I am 100% sure it was 2008 here before.

Oh, hi, darling, while you're running a space colony I went shopping and spent half of your defense budget...
Nice release. I was wondering when GOG would get around to releasing this. Also bought it a long time ago when Gamestop still had shelves for non-AAA games.

TheEnigmaticT: Not really; given that I dislike most adventure, action, and RTS games. :P

Thiev: y u no like adventure games? :(
If I want to read a good story, I have books. If I want to search uselessly around a room for a tiny worthless thing that I will never find, I can look for my keys.

If I want to try to solve illogical problems, there's always politics. ;)

None of those alternatives can deliver crappy voice acting.

I narrate my own crappy voice acting as I go through life.

"Hungry Howie's pizza looooooooooves me."
Ha sweet glad I didn't buy it on steam
Definitely a good old game. I bought this ages ago about 3 months after it's release for £9.99 and was pleasantly surprised. It's one of those games that deserved to do well commercially but never did. It's also quite brilliantly optimized...
One 'o the good ones. It has a tendency to "entice" (read rage-quit uninstall and what have I done) you to restart the campaign. It's difficult, and especially so if you tend to force instead of think your way through engagements.
Just wanted to add my voice to state my disbelief that so many people seem genuinely disappointed with this release, going to the point of "blaming" GOG for releasing games that are *gasp* not on theirs or any general wishlist, but releasing games appreciated by GOG staff! borderline criminal if you ask me...

Let's be clear - not every game suits every gamer's taste, and it's perfectly understandable that some people might come out and say, "oh, this isn't my type", but can't we just keep it polite, and simply wish good gaming to the hundreds, nay thousands, of GOG gamers who will undoubtely appreciate this tilte?

For me, Nexus is an amazing space tactical combat simulator, rightly compared to Homeworld in these forums for the setting and visuals and to Ground Control for gameplay style and challenging difficulty (see first 5 star review on this site). I already have it on disc, but it won't stop me from wishlisting it!

Great addition GOG and to TheEnigmaticT - you have good gaming taste lol!
This is certainly what space combat should be like. Capital ships blasting the crap out of each other. Whats not to like.
