some of you may have noticed two new buttons on the steam main page.

Top Games Under $10 and Top Games under $5.
it's completely possible (however unlikely) that steam added those buttons, just to advertise that it has cheap titles too.
But again, giving up your freedoms for a lower price is a dangerous thing.
I believe that Steam has noticed GOG, specifically the price points and has decided to compete, but I do not think that they will ever go DRM free.
