Only on GOG, a new game release can bring so many memories from back in the days. So who remembers the times of Pentium MMX?

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/pod_gold]POD Gold also known as Planet of Death is a futuristic racer with a plot. The game takes place in the future on a planet called Io. A mining accident unleashes a deadly virus which threatens the whole planet population. After a massive exodus from the planet, only one seat in the very last rescue spaceship remains. This seat will be taken by the winner of a dangerous race in which you're taking part. Maybe it's not an Oscar winning script but come on, it's a racer :) In POD it's all about speed - you drive one of 16 turbocharged machines through 32 tracks in full 3D environment, fighting for the top spot. When released, POD was the first game making use of the Pentium MMX technology, and later on, one of the titles with 3D acceleration. Based on this POD was often used as an example of what the computers in the late 90's could do. Today you can check the "hi-end technology of the 90's" and have fun while blasting 300 mph through the futuristic tracks for only $5.99.

Zoidberg: What about the added cars and circuits? Are they all there?
Yes, the Gold version includes Back to Hell expansion.

ne_zavarj: Invalid link .

timppu: I don't know why, but now all GoG forum links seem to link to the forum discussion? In order to see them, you'll have to copy paste them manually to your web browser.

GoG, what's up with that?
Cook didn't close a tag in the news post above. We've fixed it.

tfishell: Ah. Too bad, but oh well - they do their best. :)

phreakindee: It actually looks like they've removed the statement that it included Back to Hell from the product page, so it's all good now. And yeah, it's just a minor and forgivable mistake, and I'm extremely psyched to have POD in DRM-free form and playable on my modern PCs!
Yeh, sorry for the confusion, but I was pretty sure we did have the expansion, then we checked it once again with the product team and found out we actually don't have it. I think there were just too many different versions of the game ;)

Roman5: sorry for the off topic but this was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the word "POD"

Stuff: For purposes of making a DVD cover, I want to clarify the name. The game card still has POD Gold as the name of this release (also in the release statement in this thread)

Should I label the cover POD Gold or POD? Thanks . . . =)
It's still POD Gold, just a version released in Europe which didn't include the expansion.

grouii: ...but where are the add-on back to hell --> 32 tracks and 16 vehicules?
That's not the Gold version! It's the retail version.

oem: 8 tracks, 8 cars
retail: 16 tracks, 8 cars
extended time (francophon) or back to hell (world): 19 tracks, 23 cars additional
Gold: 32 tracks, 16 cars (16 tracks from extended time and 8 cars from extended time)

Will you give us the full add-on? ... hope and thanks if so ;)
GOG has the European gold version, which comes with what you see on the gamercard. I have no idea why there are different gold versions per region, but that's what we have to offer.
