Is there any chance that these games could somehow be wrangled onto GOG?

Im not sure how you guys go about it, but i think it would be a good seller.

They have to negotiate with IP holders. They do have a deal with Activision, but given what happened to Sierra (the original holders) getting dismantled and bought, Activision may not have gotten Homeworld when they bought Sierra. However you can vote your interest for these games in the community wishlist of games you'd like to see come to GOG.

As you can see getting Homeworld is a popular one! Hopefully GOG can get it ...

There were rumors a few years back that Relic had gotten back the rights to the franchise, but I have no idea how truthful those may have turned out to be.

I think I'd heard the same because there were rumors of Relic making Homeworld 3 on their own, but those never materialized into a game, sadly. However, for those rumors to have had any substance Relic must have at one point at least owned the rights again. Whether or not they continue do so, I don't know.

Last time I checked, about a year ago, Relic said they had regained the rights. However they also said that if they made another homeworld, it would deviate from the previous iterations as there isn't enough of a market for that style of game.

The thing about GOG that i love is that they release games that work, no hoping it will run on win 7 or anythign like that :)
