I am going to sound like a mad man but I am looking for a game that my uncle used to have on PC, I dont know its name so I was hoping if I describe what I can remember about it someone can help.

Would have been available around 95 maybe later (could be as late as 99). It was a strategy game. It appeared to be set on some alien world with humans, it was simlar to C&C but you had a unit that build structures for you. The most distinctive thing about it was that you could build paratroopers and load them into a air plane (which was odd for a non WW2 game?).

If anyone has even the slightest idea of the game I would be very thankful, even more so if its already available on gog.com

I asked a few friends and one of them mentioned Dark Colony. It looks similar to C&C so it may be the game your looking for.

Afraid to look stupid but maybe it could be StarCraft?

There are no paratroopers in StarCraft that I recall.

Maybe Outlive? Our own Starcraft Ripoff? :P
(I doubt it is, but as Starcraft was mentioned... )

Thanks all for your suggestions, and thanks for the suggestions some of those games look interesting and work a look at a later date, I think I have found the game, The L.E.D wars, it looks familiar but I may just be confusing that with something else I recall playing, will need to try and download a demo I found later and see if thats the one.

I have that game here on CD that fits your description (not sure about the paratroopers, though):
